SPH Fall Newsletter
Hello Everyone!
It is hard to believe, but we are on the cusp of another hockey season! Many are starting practice already in a couple of weeks, many others have tryouts over the next two to three weeks or are leaving for their Junior, College, and Pro seasons—it is that time!
As we wrap up summer programming over the next couple of weeks, we are setting our sights on the upcoming season. We have many programming options for the season; check them all out below! As always, please reach out with any questions at all.
ICE SESSION OPTIONS
I am out of town the first part of this week but will be back and able to be on the ice starting Thursday. If you are looking for private lessons/small groups for Thursday, Friday, and the weekend, please let me know.
Long term, we will have several on-ice options available this fall and winter.
-Private Lessons and Small Groups: Private Lessons are available at all of our usual partner rinks. We are always open to additional locations upon request. If you have specific private lesson requests, please email me to coordinate. These can be scheduled for weekdays, weekends, morning or night.
There will also be weekly, regular private lesson options available early mornings and early to mid afternoons at Glacier and Mt. Prospect on most all weekdays. These can also be used for Small Groups. These will soon be posted to the website, and we will send a separate note regarding this specific programming. An additional option will also be private/semi-private lessons held during Stick & Puck ice time at the Edge.
Small Groups are another option in-season. Ice sessions dedicated to group drop-ins will be available, and you are also welcome to form your own group with teammates, friends, and/or family. Like everything else, just email me to coordinate and I would happily accommodate your own private group. This is becoming more and more common and has worked out very well!
-Sunday Skills: Exact time and location is TBD, but starting around mid-September I plan to have a drop-in skills group on full ice most Sunday evenings. These will be open to all ages and will involve independent skill work and station work. Players of similar age and skill will be grouped together when possible for game-like conditions and training in addition to the individual work. Likely locations are Edge, Rosemont, and/or Mt. Prospect. Additionally, Glacier may be a secondary/additional option.
-Defense-Specific Training: Most are familiar with our seasonal Defense Programs. We are evolving and trying to make this training more accessible and year-round. I plan to implement Defense Clinics perhaps twice a month on a drop-in basis for those interested (and based on feedback, that's many people!) Additionally, if you would like a private lesson or your own private small group to have a defensive focus, that is 100% an option. Reach out any time with questions or to coordinate. More to come on the drop-in sessions in-season!
VIDEO COACHING/ANALYSIS
Professional video coaching and analysis is an optimal way to continue development and improvement in-season, especially for players whose schedules do not allow for many additional skates. For players who do still opt for additional on-ice training in-season, the video reviews are still a high-end supplement to development. They also allow me to further enhance the on-ice sessions based on notes taken from game-play video reviews.
This season we are using a new video software vendor, ReactView. This cutting edge tech will add previously unavailable features and optimize the editing and production process.
Many players and families are returning this upcoming season, but slots are still available to join. Once people try it, they rarely do not return for more. Come find out why! More details can be found here on our website. There are multiple purchase options, ranging from single sessions to season-long subscriptions and everything in between! These are largely geared to be downloadable sessions that can be viewed at any time, but live, one-on-one virtual sessions are available upon request.
*All video services target players born in 2014 and later. If you have a player born in 2015 or younger, some individuals may be suited for a modified form of review. I know personally, my 2016 son benefits greatly from some simple feedback and getting to watch himself through this lens. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
COMING SOON - SKATING & SHOOTING ANALYSIS
Using the ReactView software, we are also exploring and developing Shooting and Skating Analysis services. Utilizing video footage of your skating and shooting, we can break down your current mechanics and movements, providing detailed feedback, corrections, and ways to improve. This will all be virtual via downloadable packages with the option to meet virtually for follow-up questions and discussion. Stay tuned!
THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAY SKATES
It is only August, I know! But an early reminder that we are available for additional skates over Thanksgiving and Holiday breaks. If you are looking for extra ice as those times approach, reach out! These options fill up surprisingly quickly and early.
THE NEST
Off-ice skill sessions are available year-round at The Nest! This has proven to be a great way to supplement all puck skill training. They also have individual options and host parties and other events. Even if it's not with us, go there, check them out and shoot on your own time! Some of the best development in all of sports comes from individual play and unstructured play with friends. The Nest is a great, affordable way to accomplish all of that!

REFERRAL PROGRAM
This is a big one....so much of our growth has come from all of you having a great experience and telling your teammates, friends, family. We love the organic contact and people finding us through search or social media, but the referrals are our lifeblood and we want to reward you for bringing people into the mix!
For every person that registers for any service as a result of your referral, you will receive a $25 credit that applies to any future services you register for. There are no limits to the number of credits you can get. If someone registers and they were sent by you...you get your credit. This is not a temporary special, it is open-ended year-round. Send people our way, and we will reward you!
That is everything for now! Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer and we look forward to working with many of you this season. Best of luck to everyone this season!
